The BEAT Festival is a time for Brooklyn to celebrate its own. A time for us as artists and audience to gather and witness the world-class talent within the borough. Each year, the BEAT Festival presents contemporary work in multiple venues in a variety of different neighborhoods across the borough. In our first two years, most of our venues have been non-traditional spaces, such as the Brooklyn Museum, the Brooklyn Public Library and MetroTech Commons. We present multiple artists or groups within the festival across the disciplines of theater, dance and voice. Many of these tour the borough, performing in each of these unique spaces. This allows for diverse acts and audiences to engage each other, a core focus of the festival’s mission.

This year Aja Monet will be performing on three separate occasions for the festival. She will be a part of the opening night at the Brooklyn Museum on September 11th and also performing two solo shows on September 15th (“Front Porch Stories”) and September 19th (“Backyard Songs”).

Thursday Sept 11, 7PM – Monday Sept 15, 7.30 PM – Friday Sept 19, 12PM
